Waterless urinals: not just for Duke Divinity anymore...
When I arrived at Duke, the Divinity School premiered its new, third building. We had a beautiful new chapel, state-of-the art classroom electronics...and waterless urinals. A great way to save water, but they certainly seemed a little gross. And, to be honest, I was never convinced that a certain aromatic issue was properly addressed. But, on the whole, waterless urinals are a good idea - and apparently, they're more hygenic, too. Check out this piece at the Christian Science Monitor.
If the waterfree urinals are producing an odor, something is wrong with maintenance or the installation. The way they're designed makes odors impossible, so long as simple maintenance is followed. Contact the manufacturer for more info.
