Does the city hurt the brain?

Continuing the conversation with my wannabe-agrarian friends...

A recent article in the Boston Globe points to some studies that suggest that the city, long heralded as wellspring of innovation and intelligence, may also have some deleterious effects on mental functioning:

Sadly, I am a wannabe. Circumstances prevent me from "headin to the woods, away from the guvmnt." Maybe in the future, Lord Wiling.

I think I have been through 5. Muslims (or the Federal Govt--they are usually one and the same) hijacked the font on my blogger acct. I started the "gothic" thing because of my interest in the medievals and I took a line from John Ruskin.

I told you them thar city folks was dumber than us. We can read good, too. They jus' think we's dumb 'cause we talks funny.

Any word on whether high school classrooms have similar effects? I think I notice them daily.

And you should definitely read "For Arguments for the Elimination of Television." He talks extensively on the lack of nature in the city and the influence of television on such things as impulsive actions and credit card debt.
